The Little Compton Agricultural Conservancy Trust (LCACT) welcomes the public to hunt some of its fee owned properties. Hunting is allowed through written permission only and for specific properties as indicated in the LCACT Hunting Policies and Procedures listed below.
LCACT Hunting Policies and Procedures
- Any person/persons requesting permission to hunt on property owned by the Little Compton Agricultural Conservancy Trust (LCACT), “fee property”, shall review and complete all required Hunting Applications and Permits which can be found at www.LCACT.net (see below).
- Hunting Applications and Permits required:
- LCACT Hunting Permission Form: required by LCACT
- LCACT Hunting Waiver & Indemnity Form: required by LCACT
- Little Compton Police Department (LCPD) Hunting Permit Application
- Candidates shall submit all LCACT completed forms to LCACT either via email, (littlecomptonagtrust @gmail.com), or by First Class US Mail and addressed to LCACT, PO Box 937, Little Compton, RI 02837.
- Once the application has been received by LCACT, each applicant package shall be reviewed by LCACT. This review, among other things, will include checking the size and general characteristics of the property, the requested location relative to the surrounding neighborhood, the suitability for hunting as well as the total number of hunters applying to hunt each on property. In addition, the total number of hunters for each property may be limited at the discretion of the LCACT due to safety considerations. The LCACT will also consider the conservation value of the parcel(s) and to which, if any, granting a request will enhance or detract from such values.
- Once the review is completed, the LCACT shall notify the applicant of their application’s approval or denial either by email, phone, or US Mail.
- A complete list of all successful applicant names shall be posted at www.lcact.net and shared with the LCPD. The list will include hunter name, hunter phone number, permitted hunting season dates, and prey hunted.
- Hunting Permission term date shall expire:
- At the conclusion of the hunting season as indicated on the DEM website: www.dem.ri.gov/Fishing &Hunting.
- At the expiration of the applicant’s Hunting License or Permit
- On the date permission is revoked by the LCACT.
- While hunting on any LCACT property, hunters are required to follow all State of RI and Little Compton general laws and/or ordinances; (see RIGL -Title 20 Chapter 15-1-6); including a requirement that all hunters carrying a weapon must have in their possession a signed LCACT hunting permission slip.
